Sweet and Sour Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients

Brussels Sprouts, Quartered1 lb
Olive Oil1 tbsp
Salt1/2 tsp
Pepper1/2 tsp
Sweet and Sour Sauce2 tbsp

Process

  1. Preheat oven to 400℉.
  2. Toss sprouts with oil salt and pepper until thoroughly coated.
  3. Spread sprouts on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  4. Roast sprouts for roughly 20 minutes, until nicely charred, but not burned
  5. Allow sprouts to rest and cool for 1 to 2 minutes, then toss with sweet and sour sauce to coat.

Sweet and Sour Sauce

Ingredients

Soy Sauce1/2 Cup
Sherry Vinegar1/2 Cup
Dark Molasses1/2 Cup
Red Pepper Flakes1/2 tsp
Garlic, Minced5-10 Cloves(to taste)
Ginger, Minced1/4 Cup

Process

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a simmer on medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 50 minutes to 1 hour, swirling evry 5 minutes or so to prevent burning.
  4. Yields roughly 1 cup of sauce. Keeps indefinitely.
